Visiting Khalifa International Stadium

We visited local area three days ago and while at the traffic stop I took the chance to take a shot of the biggest stadium here in Doha the Khalifa International Stadium which was renovated in 2005 in time for the 2006 Asian Games.  It has now increased its capacity from 20,000 to 40,000 and it you noticed the flame at the left side of the spiral ring it was lighted because there was an ongoing 2011 Arab Games.

This is the closest I could get with my current lens and in the coming years, I am sure that this stadium will be eclipsed with new and modern edifice. There will be more stadiums to build in time for the 2022 World Cup finals matches and all of them must have a minimum seating capacity of 40,000 which is a requirement from FIFA in order to hold final matches.
